You can add a commander to your deck either during the deck creation process or later by editing the deck. The commander input field allows you to search for all legal commanders based on the format: Commander or Brawl. Additionally, the commander select component supports different types of partner commanders:
- Partner: Allows you to select two commanders with the Partner ability.
- Partner with: Allows you to select two specific commanders that partner with each other.
- Background: Allows you to select a commander and a Background card.
- Friends: Allows you to select two commanders with the Friends forever ability.
- Doctor's companion:Allows you to select a commander and a Doctor's companion card.
To add or edit a commander:
- During Deck Creation:
- In the deck creation form, use the commander input field to search and select your commander.
- After Deck Creation:
- Navigate to your deck and click the Edit Deck button.
- Select the Edit Commander action to open the commander selection dialog.
- Use the commander input field to search and select your commander.
To add cards to your deck, interact with the "Search and add cards" input to search for cards you want to add to your deck. The dropdown next to it allows you to select if you want to add the card to the mainboard, sideboard, or maybeboard. Additionally, below it is a checkbox that limits the search to only cards legal in the selected format and available in the selected game type.
Once a card is added to the decklist, it can be modified by clicking on it. This will open a dialog with all options to edit the deck card, such as selecting a specific printing, selecting the language and finish type, changing the amount, or even adding notes for this specific card. Additionally, the amount can be changed by interacting with the amount number next to the card in the decklist.
While working on or viewing your decklist, there are multiple actions available to help you manage your deck efficiently:
Deck Actions:
- Edit Deck Settings:Modify the deck's name, game type, visibility, and other settings.
- Bulk Edit: Make changes to multiple cards in your deck at once.
- Delete Deck: Permanently remove the deck from your collection.
- Make a Copy: Create a duplicate of the deck for further experimentation or modification.
- Add Cards to Binder: Add all cards from the deck to a specified binder in your collection.
- Add Missing Cards to Binder: Add only the cards that are not already in the specified binder.
- Decklist Error: If there are any issues with the current decklist, a red exclamation mark button will be visible. Clicking this button will open a dialog with a list of all errors.
Decklist Errors:
If there are any issues with the current decklist, a red exclamation mark button will be visible. Clicking this button will open a dialog with a list of all errors.
Buy Deck:
Opens a dialog to purchase the entire deck through TCGPlayer.
Per Card Actions:
- Copy Card Name: Copy the name of the card to your clipboard for easy reference.
- Buy Card: Redirect to a marketplace to purchase the card.
- Delete Card: Remove the card from the decklist.
- Add to Collection: Add the card to your personal collection.
- Add to Different Deck: Move or copy the card to another deck in your collection.
When you open a card from your decklist, the card dialog includes a Collection status tab. This tab compares the selected card against your binders and decklists for the selected game type.
- This deck: Shows how many copies this deck needs for the selected card entry.
- All decklists: Shows the total committed need for the same card name across this deck and your other decklists, then compares that number with your owned copies.
- Owned across printings: Counts cards from Collection binders across printings, finishes, and languages for the same card name. Wishlist and Tradelist binders are shown as context, but they do not count as owned.
- Spare or need more: If your owned copies cover the all-decklists need, the dialog shows how many copies are spare. If not, it shows how many more copies you need.
- Uncommitted entries: Proxy cards, tokens, and maybeboard cards do not count toward committed deck need.
Game type is part of the comparison. Paper, Arena, and MTGO decklists are checked against binders with the matching game type, so availability stays tied to the inventory you can actually use for that deck.
When you open a card from your decklist, the card dialog includes an Other decks tab. This tab intentionally excludes the current deck and lists other decks that use the same card name.
- Exact selected version: The other deck uses the same printing, finish, and language as the selected card.
- Other versions: The other deck uses the same card name with a different printing, finish, or language.
- Relationship to Collection status: Other decks help explain the all-decklists total shown in Collection status, while keeping the current deck separate from the list of other decks.
