Price Alerts: Let the Price Come to You
Hey, I have been working on Price Alerts for a while and I am happy to finally share it. I kept opening price pages for the same cards, then missing the right moments anyway. I wanted a simple way to wait for my price without babysitting the market. I also wanted alerts to be calm, not noisy, so each alert sends one email and then turns itself off. You get the info, you decide what to do, and the alert stops.
Quick use cases
- My own use case: I set alerts for pricier cards I want, but I am not in a hurry to buy. I set a target and wait for one email.
- Specific print below: I want a certain art or frame and I am willing to wait for a dip.
- Cheapest print below: I just need the card for a deck and do not care about the printing.
- Percent change: I want to know if a card moves hard in a single day after spoilers, bans, or a tournament result.
- Specific print above: I own a nice printing and want to sell only if it climbs high enough.
How it works
Pick a card, marketplace, and finish. Then choose a target and a condition. MythicHub checks prices once per day and sends an email when the alert hits. After that, the alert is marked as Triggered and disabled.
Alerts run once per day at 15:00 UTC:
- 7am PST / 8am PDT
- 10am EST / 11am EDT
- 3pm GMT / 4pm BST
- 4pm CET / 5pm CEST
Go to Markets -> Price Alerts, then click Create. You choose:
- the card
- the marketplace and finish
- a target, specific printing or cheapest printing
- a condition, target price or percent change
Then save the alert. Enabled alerts are evaluated once per day.
Targets and conditions
Specific printing means the exact set and collector number you picked. This is best when you care about a certain version or treatment.
Cheapest printing follows the lowest priced eligible printing for the marketplace and finish you chose. The tracked printing can change over time as prices move. This is best when you just want the cheapest copy, not a specific art or frame.
Eligibility includes Secret Lair and white border printings. It excludes gold border and memorabilia cards.
Target price triggers when the price goes below or above what you set. MythicHub picks the direction based on the current price when you set the alert. If the card is 20 and you set 15, it is a below alert. If you set 25, it is an above alert.
To avoid noisy alerts, the target price needs to be a real change:
- Under 10 in the marketplace currency, the target must be at least 0.50 away
- 10 and above, the target must be at least 1.00 away
Percent change triggers on the daily percent move in either direction. The minimum threshold is 3 percent. This is useful if you want to watch for sudden movement instead of a fixed price.
Not every marketplace supports every finish, so the UI only shows valid options.
Email and alert status
When an alert triggers, you get one email that explains what happened and links back to the card and your alerts page. The alert is then marked as Triggered and disabled. You can re-enable it any time.
Limits for now
Enabled alerts are capped at 50 per account. You can create more alerts and keep them disabled. The limits are still experimental. I might adjust them later once the feature is used more and tested by real users.
