Collection Management Gets Better: New Pricing Features, TCGPlayer Import, and Enhanced Charts

Introduction

Hey everyone! I'm back with another update about MythicHub improvements. Over the past few months, I've been working on some behind-the-scenes changes that might not be flashy, but they make tracking your collection's value much more accurate and comprehensive.

These aren't revolutionary features, but they're the kind of improvements that make the day-to-day experience of managing your collection smoother and more trustworthy. Let me walk you through what's changed!

Card Price History

Etched Price Support

One of the biggest gaps in MythicHub's pricing was etched cards. I own several etched cards myself, and it was always annoying that I couldn't track their specific market values.

I'm happy to say that's now fixed! MythicHub now supports etched card prices from three major marketplaces:

  • TCGPlayer: Full support for regular, foil, and etched finishes
  • Cardmarket: Complete finish coverage
  • CardKingdom: All three finishes, though availability depends on their stock

This means when you're looking at an etched card in your collection or on a deck list, you'll see the actual market price for that specific finish. For expensive cards like etched showcase treatments, this can make a significant difference in your collection's tracked value.

Enhanced Chart Navigation: Exploring Your Collection's History

Another improvement that I'm really happy with is the enhanced navigation for both price history charts and binder value trends. Both features now support viewing up to a full year of historical data, which gives you much better insight into long-term trends.

But here's the thing - looking at a year's worth of data on a small chart can be overwhelming. That's why I added an interactive timeline at the bottom of the charts that lets you manipulate the visible date range. You can zoom in on specific time periods while still seeing the full year of data in context.

For example, if you want to see how your collection's value changed during a specific set release, you can drag the range selector to focus on just those few weeks. Or if you're tracking a card's price and want to see recent volatility, you can zoom in on the last month while still having the full year visible for context.

The defaults are: the binder value chart focuses on the last two weeks, while the price history chart shows the last three months.

Exploring Collection History

TCGPlayer Inventory Import

One feature I'm particularly excited about is the new TCGPlayer Inventory import. If you're a store owner or someone who buys and sells cards regularly on TCGPlayer, this feature is a game-changer.

The import uses TCGPlayer's own SKU IDs to match cards directly, ensuring accurate identification of the specific card printing, language, condition, and finish. When you export your inventory from TCGPlayer and import it into MythicHub, the system knows exactly which variant of each card you have.

What makes this even better is that the import automatically brings in your TCGPlayer marketplace prices as assigned prices in MythicHub. So not only do you get an accurate inventory, but you also get your actual selling prices imported automatically. This makes it much easier to track your store's inventory value and manage your collection alongside your business.

Smarter Binder Trend Calculations

The other major improvement is how MythicHub calculates your collection's value trends over time. This was one of those features that worked okay, but I knew it could be much better with some thoughtful redesign.

More Reliable Historical Data

Previously, the system would sometimes have gaps in your binder's value history, especially for older dates or when there were data issues. Now, MythicHub guarantees you'll always see at least 14 days of trend data, even for brand new binders.

Here's how it works: every night, the system calculates and saves your binder's value for that day. These "stored" values give you accurate historical snapshots. But if there are any gaps - maybe from technical issues or because you just created the binder - the system will calculate "estimated" values to fill them in.

Smarter Price Resolution

I also improved how the system finds prices for cards on specific dates. When calculating your binder's value for a particular day, it now follows this priority:

  1. Use the exact price from that specific date
  2. If that's not available, use the most recent price before that date
  3. As a last resort, fall back to any manually assigned price you've set

This means your historical trend data is much more accurate, especially for cards that don't have daily price updates.

Real-Time Calculations for Filtered Views

When you apply filters to view only certain cards in your binder, the trend chart now recalculates everything in real-time based on your filtered selection. This gives you accurate trend data for just the subset of cards you're looking at - perfect for analyzing how different parts of your collection are performing.

Looking Forward

As always, these improvements came from my own experience using MythicHub and feedback from the community. I'm constantly thinking about how to make collection management more accurate and reliable, especially as Magic cards get more expensive and collection tracking becomes more important.

I'm working on this project solo in my spare time, so progress sometimes feels slow, but each improvement makes the platform genuinely better for everyone who uses it. The goal is always to build tools that I'd want to use myself as a Magic player and collector.

What's Next?

I have more pricing and collection features planned, but I'd love to hear what matters most to you. Are there specific marketplaces you'd like to see supported? Any issues with how your collection's value is tracked?

Your feedback directly shapes what I work on next. You can reach out through our feedback form or email me directly at matt(at)mythichub.com.

Thanks for using MythicHub and for being patient while I continue building and improving the platform. Every update gets us closer to having the best collection management tool for Magic players!

Happy collecting!
